Ingredients

For the Chicken
  • 1 lb boneless, skinless chicken breasts trimmed of excess fat
  • 1 cup BBQ sauce your favorite brand
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder for added flavor
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder for added flavor
  • ½ teaspoon salt to taste
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper to taste
For the Sliders
  • 8 count slider buns soft and fresh
  • 1 cup coleslaw for topping
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil for brushing
For Serving
  • ¼ cup pickles sliced, optional
  • ¼ cup extra BBQ sauce for drizzling

Method

Prepare the Chicken
  1. Place the chicken breasts in a slow cooker. Add the BBQ sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper. Stir to combine, ensuring the chicken is well coated with the sauce.
  2. Cover and cook on low for 4-6 hours or high for 2-3 hours, until the chicken is tender and easily shredded with a fork.
  3. Once cooked, remove the chicken from the slow cooker and shred it using two forks. Return the shredded chicken to the slow cooker and mix it with the remaining sauce.
Prepare the Sliders
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Slice the slider buns in half and place them on a baking sheet. Brush the tops with olive oil to help them toast nicely.
  3. Toast the buns in the preheated oven for about 5-7 minutes, or until they are lightly golden.
Assemble the Sliders
  1. Remove the toasted buns from the oven. On the bottom half of each bun, place a generous amount of the BBQ shredded chicken.
  2. Top the chicken with a spoonful of coleslaw for crunch and freshness.
  3. If desired, add sliced pickles and drizzle with extra BBQ sauce.
  4. Cover with the top half of the bun and serve immediately.
