Cooking Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Boil a large pot of salted water and cook the ziti pasta until just al dente, about 7-8 minutes. Drain and set aside.
- Sauté the onion and garlic in a large skillet with olive oil over medium heat until fragrant, about 3-4 minutes.
- Brown the ground beef in the skillet, breaking it up as it cooks, until golden. Drain excess fat.
- Stir in the marinara sauce and simmer for about 10 minutes. Season with salt and pepper.
- Combine ricotta cheese, egg, ½ cup Parmesan, chopped parsley, salt, and pepper in a bowl. Mix until smooth.
- Spread a layer of meat sauce in a 9x13-inch baking dish. Add half of the cooked ziti.
- Dollop half of the ricotta mixture over the pasta and sprinkle 1 cup mozzarella cheese on top.
- Repeat the layering process with the remaining ingredients.
- Finish with remaining sauce, followed by 1 cup mozzarella and ½ cup Parmesan cheese.
- Cover with foil and bake for 20 minutes. Uncover and bake for another 10-15 minutes until cheese is bubbly and golden brown.
- Let the Cheesy Baked Ziti rest for 10 minutes before serving and garnish with fresh herbs.

Notes
Optionally, serve with a side salad for a refreshing contrast to the cheesy goodness.
