How to Make Chocolate Chip Red Velvet Whoopie Pies
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Mix together the cake mix, eggs, canola oil, and vanilla extract in a large bowl until smooth and creamy.
- Pipe the batter into heart shapes onto parchment-lined baking sheets, about 1-½ by 1 inches and spaced 1 inch apart.
- Bake for 6–8 minutes until the edges are set. Let cool on the pan for 2 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
- Beat softened butter and cream cheese until smooth. Gradually add sifted powdered sugar and mix until fluffy, then stir in the mini chocolate chips.
- Assemble the whoopie pies by spreading cream cheese filling on the flat side of half the cookies and topping with the remaining cookies.
- Store in the refrigerator to keep them fresh.
