Preparation Steps
- Sprinkle gelatin over ¼ cup of cold water in a small bowl. Let it sit for about 5 minutes until it swells.
- Combine the eggnog and heavy cream in a medium saucepan. Heat over medium heat, stirring gently until warm.
- Stir in the granulated sugar and the bloomed gelatin into the warm mixture. Whisk until smooth.
- Remove from heat and stir in the vanilla extract. Optionally add a splash of alcohol.
- Pour the mixture into ramekins or glasses. Cool slightly, then refrigerate for at least 4 hours.
- To serve, unmold onto plates or serve in glasses. Top with whipped cream and sprinkle with nutmeg or cinnamon.
