Method

How to Make Frito Pie
  1. Brown the Beef: In a large skillet, cook the ground beef over medium-high heat until browned—about 5-7 minutes. Drain any excess fat to keep the dish from being greasy.
  2. Sauté the Aromatics: Add the diced onion and minced garlic to the skillet, cooking for 2-3 minutes until fragrant and the onion is translucent.
  3. Combine Ingredients: Stir in the taco seasoning, drained kidney beans, and crushed tomatoes. Let the mixture simmer for 8-10 minutes, allowing all those delicious flavors to meld beautifully.
  4. Preheat Oven: While your mixture simmers, preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  5. Layer the Dish: Start by layering half of the Fritos in the prepared baking dish. Then, spoon the savory chili mixture over the Fritos.
  6. Add Cheese and Fritos: Sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese over the chili, and then top with the remaining half of the Fritos.
  7. Bake: Place the baking dish in the preheated oven and bake for 15-20 minutes, or until the dish is bubbly and the top is golden brown.
  8. Cool and Serve: Once out of the oven, let it cool slightly. Garnish with your favorite toppings and serve hot.
