How to Make Garlic Butter Sweet Potato Bake
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). While it heats up, lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish with butter or nonstick spray to prevent sticking.
- In a saucepan over medium-low heat, whisk the cornstarch into the heavy cream. Add butter, minced garlic, thyme, salt, and pepper. Stir frequently until the butter melts and the mixture is hot, but don't let it boil. Remove from heat and let sit briefly.
- Arrange sweet potato slices evenly in the greased baking dish. Pour the warm garlic cream mixture over the potatoes, ensuring they are fully covered for a rich flavor.
- Place the baking dish in the preheated oven and bake uncovered for 30 minutes. You'll know it's ready when the sweet potatoes are tender and the creamy mixture is bubbling.
- Take the baking dish out of the oven, and sprinkle fresh parmesan cheese evenly on top. Return it to the oven and bake for another 10 minutes, until the cheese is golden and bubbly. If you prefer, broil for an additional 1–2 minutes for a crispier topping.
- Let the Garlic Butter Sweet Potato Bake rest for 10 minutes before serving. This allows the sauce to thicken and makes for easier serving.
