  • 2 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • ½ teaspoon Kosher salt
  • ¼ teaspoon Ground black pepper
  • 2 Fresh thyme sprigs or 1 teaspoon dried
  • 2 Bay leaves
  • 6 cups Reduced sodium beef broth or stock

How to Make Hearty Crockpot Beef and Barley Soup
  1. (Optional) Brown the Beef: Start by browning the beef cubes in batches over medium-high heat for 1–2 minutes on each side for richer flavor.
  2. Combine Ingredients: In your slow cooker, add the beef, vegetables, pearl barley, and seasonings. Stir gently to mix.
  3. Set the Cooker: Cook on LOW for 7–8 hours or HIGH for 4–5 hours until the beef is tender and the barley is cooked.
  4. Finish and Serve: Remove bay leaves and thyme stems, stir, adjust seasoning, and serve your soup.
