Ingredients
  

For the Tea Base
  • 1 cup Water the foundation for boiling the spices and flavors
  • 1 teaspoon Loose-leaf black tea or 1 bag, for that classic robust flavor
  • 1 stick Cinnamon stick or ½ teaspoon of ground cinnamon
  • 1 bean Vanilla bean split and scraped or 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
  • 1 Star anise optional, for an exotic flavor
For the Creaminess
  • ½ cup Milk choose dairy or plant-based
For Sweetening
  • Sweetener of choice to taste, such as sugar, honey, or substitute

Method
 

Instructions
  1. Boil 1 cup of water in a small pot until it reaches a rolling boil.
  2. Add the cinnamon stick and split vanilla bean to the boiling water, or use ground cinnamon and vanilla extract.
  3. Simmer for 10 minutes if you’re adding star anise.
  4. Strain the liquid into your favorite cup, discarding the solid spices.
  5. Brew the black tea in the infused liquid for 3–5 minutes, then remove the tea bag or strained leaves.
  6. Warm the milk separately until it's steaming.
  7. Pour the warmed milk slowly into your brewed tea, and stir in your sweetener of choice to taste.
  8. Garnish with a sprinkle of cinnamon or add back in the star anise before serving.
  9. Chill if desired! For an iced version, allow the tea to cool before pouring over ice.
