Ingredients
  

For the Meatballs
  • 1 pound Ground beef can substitute with turkey
  • 1 pound Ground pork
  • 1 cup Breadcrumbs seasoned for extra flavor
  • 1 large Egg can replace with a flax egg for vegan
  • 3 cloves Garlic minced
  • 1 medium Onion finely chopped
  • ½ cup Grated Parmesan cheese or pecorino cheese
  • 1 tablespoon Italian seasoning or fresh herbs
  • ½ teaspoon Crushed red pepper flakes optional
  • to taste Salt
  • to taste Pepper
For the Sauce
  • 2 tablespoons Olive oil or avocado oil
  • 2 tablespoons Tomato paste
  • 1 can Crushed tomatoes preferably San Marzano
  • ½ cup Heavy cream coconut cream for dairy-free
  • ¼ cup Grated Parmesan cheese or nutritional yeast for vegan
  • to taste Chopped fresh basil or parsley for garnish

Method
 

Preparation
  1. In a large bowl, mix ground beef, pork, breadcrumbs, egg, garlic, onion, Parmesan cheese, Italian seasoning, red pepper flakes (if using), salt, and pepper until just combined.
  2. Roll the mixture into 1.5-inch meatballs and set them aside.
  3. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Sear meatballs until golden brown on all sides, about 6-8 minutes.
  4. In the same skillet, stir in the tomato paste and cook for 1-2 minutes.
  5. Pour in the crushed tomatoes, then stir in heavy cream and additional Parmesan. Let it simmer to thicken for about 5-7 minutes.
  6. Return the seared meatballs to the skillet and cover. Simmer on low heat for 15-20 minutes.
  7. Garnish with fresh basil or parsley right before serving.
