Ingredients

Brownie Base
  • 8 tablespoons unsalted butter melted for a rich, fudgy texture
  • 1 cup sugar sweetens the brownies perfectly
  • ¼ cup unsweetened cocoa powder adds deep chocolate flavor
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract enhances the overall sweetness
  • 1 tablespoon red food coloring gives these brownies their iconic hue
  • teaspoon salt balances sweetness and enhances flavors
  • ½ teaspoon white vinegar helps create a soft texture in the brownies
  • 2 whole eggs provide structure and moisture to the batter
  • ¾ cup all-purpose flour gives the brownies their heartiness
Cheesecake Layer
  • 8 oz. cream cheese softened for a smooth and creamy filling
  • 3 tablespoons sugar sweetens the cheesecake layer just right
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract adds another layer of flavor
  • 1 whole egg yolk enriches the creaminess of the cheesecake mixture

Equipment

  • 8×8-inch baking pan

Method

Directions
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line an 8x8-inch baking pan with parchment paper and grease it lightly with butter.
  2. Combine the melted butter, sugar, cocoa powder, vanilla extract, red food coloring, and salt in a large bowl. Mix until smooth, then add the white vinegar.
  3. Beat the eggs in a separate bowl until well combined, then mix into the brownie mixture.
  4. Fold in the flour gently until just combined.
  5. Spread most of the brownie batter into the pan, saving ¼ cup for the topping.
  6. In a separate bowl, beat the cream cheese, sugar, vanilla extract, and egg yolk until smooth.
  7. Spread the cheesecake layer evenly over the brownie base, dollop the reserved brownie batter on top.
  8. Swirl gently with a knife or toothpick to create a marbled design.
  9. Bake for 30 minutes or until a toothpick comes out with a few moist crumbs.
  10. Cool completely in the pan before removing and slicing.
