- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line your baking sheets with parchment paper.
- Whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt in a bowl.
- Beat the softened butter and granulated sugar in a separate bowl until light and fluffy.
- Incorporate the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Then, stir in the vanilla extract and red gel food coloring until evenly combined.
- Gradually stir in the dry ingredients until just combined.
- Chill the dough in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes.
- Scoop tablespoon-sized portions of dough and roll them into 1-inch balls.
- Coat each ball generously in powdered sugar, ensuring they're fully covered.
- Place the balls 2 inches apart on your baking sheets.
- Bake the cookies for 10–12 minutes, until edges are set but centers remain soft.
- Cool the cookies on the sheet for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack.
