Ingredients

  • 2 cups All-purpose flour
  • 1 cup Unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 2 teaspoons Baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
For the Wet Mixture
  • 1 cup Unsalted butter softened
  • 1.5 cups Granulated sugar
  • 3 Large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla extract
  • 2 tablespoons Red gel food coloring
For the Coating
  • 1 cup Powdered sugar

Method
 

Directions
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line your baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. Whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt in a bowl.
  3. Beat the softened butter and granulated sugar in a separate bowl until light and fluffy.
  4. Incorporate the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Then, stir in the vanilla extract and red gel food coloring until evenly combined.
  5. Gradually stir in the dry ingredients until just combined.
  6. Chill the dough in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes.
  7. Scoop tablespoon-sized portions of dough and roll them into 1-inch balls.
  8. Coat each ball generously in powdered sugar, ensuring they're fully covered.
  9. Place the balls 2 inches apart on your baking sheets.
  10. Bake the cookies for 10–12 minutes, until edges are set but centers remain soft.
  11. Cool the cookies on the sheet for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack.
