  • 1 head green cabbage chopped
  • 1 medium yellow onion chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
For the Cooking Liquid
  • 2 cups chicken or vegetable broth use vegetable broth for vegan option
  • 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar splash at the end
For the Seasoning
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • to taste salt
  • to taste black pepper
  • optional crushed red pepper flakes for spice

Method
 

Cooking Instructions
  1. Heat olive oil and butter in a large skillet or Dutch oven over medium heat until melted and shimmering.
  2. Sauté chopped onion until softened, about 5 minutes.
  3. Add minced garlic and cook for another minute until fragrant.
  4. Incorporate chopped cabbage and stir well to coat it with the buttery mixture.
  5. Cook the cabbage down for about 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  6. Pour in the chicken or vegetable broth.
  7. Season with salt, black pepper, and red pepper flakes.
  8. Cover the skillet and let it simmer for 15–20 minutes, until the cabbage is tender.
  9. Uncover the skillet, add the apple cider vinegar, and stir well.
  10. Simmer uncovered for 2–3 more minutes to reduce excess liquid.
  11. Taste and adjust seasonings as needed before serving.
